A current high school senior at Stuyvesant High School in New York City, Isabel carries a strong passion for science, community engagement, and advocacy. From a young age, she has been deeply influenced by her family especially through her experiences growing up with a blind older brother. As she became more aware of the experiences of individuals with disabilities, Isabel saw how often these voices were overlooked while also recognizing how meaningful education and empathy could be. Motivated by this perspective, she founded Disability Action with the goal of combining her love for her family, service, and storytelling to uplift and empower individuals with disabilities.
Through Disability Action, Isabel aims to create a platform that raises awareness and fosters genuine connection and understanding.
In her free time, Isabel enjoys running in Central Park, playing the guitar, and learning new languages.
Matthew is a current senior at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City, where he majors in Psychology. At the age of 16, he was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma tumor and underwent two brain surgeries. Following his second surgery, Matthew became fully blind, an experience that profoundly reshaped his perspective and daily life. Through this journey, he developed a deep understanding of the importance of accessibility, resilience, and inclusion.
Having interned at the AHRC NYC, a family-governed organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, he worked to help create more inclusive environments and gained valuable insight into advocacy and community support.
In his free time, Matthew enjoys playing and watching baseball, exploring new instruments, and traveling.
